Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Petite Sirah from Stags’ Leap opens with a blueberry and cigar box bouquet with hints of caramel. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and smooth. The flavor profile is a mineral influenced mild blackberry with notes of plum. We also detected some hints of clove mixed in as well. The finish is dry and its dusty tannins are a bit sticky. The Panel suggested pairing this Petite Sirah with grilled steak tips. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The 2016 Petite Sirah is deep and saturated with a core of blackberry, blueberry and black plum, alongside more savory notes of cocoa powder, black pepper spice and Old Bay seasoning. On the palate, the generous blackberry and peppery plum flavors continue but elements of fresher Bing cherry and creamy cassis notes also come through, as well as delicate anise seed, clove and cedar spice notes from the oak ageing. This wine is smooth and silky with velvety tannins and a generous lengthy finish.
