Wine Review: This ruby colored "Old Vines" Zinfandel from St. Francis opens with a lead pencil and pomegranate bouquet with hints of oolong tea. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and fresh. The flavor profile is a stony minerality and maraschino cherry blend with notes of oolong tea and red plum. I also detected hints of oak and a touch of craisin at the very end. The finish is dry, and its very dusty tannins stick around for quite some time. I would pair this Zin with grilled steak tips or steak fajitas. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Flavors of raspberry preserves and boysenberry followed by spicy notes of licorice and peppercorn.
