Wine Review: This slightly opaque and medium ruby colored Zinfandel from St. Amant opens with a musty forest floor, black coffee, and dried strawberry bouquet with hints of black pepper, oak, and lingonberry. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth, zippy, and very fruit forward. The flavor profile is black raspberry and black plum blend with notes of stony minerality and black pepper. We also detected hints of pomegranate, cinnamon, and sage. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and moderate tannins linger nicely. I would pair this Zin with duck confit or burnt ends. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: A big ripe chewy Zinfandel made in a style to highlight the rich raspberry and spicy blackberry fruit character of these old Lodi Zinfandel Vineyards. The 2021 is our 26th vintage of our Mohr-Fry Ranch Old Vine Zinfandel – a wine that has come to define us, and to a great extent help define Lodi. It is a full-bodied, rich Zin, redolent of blackberries and raspberries that drinks delicious now and should age well for 4-5 years.
