Wine Review: This slightly opaque and dark ruby colored wine opens with an attractive black currant and blackberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied and initially slightly acidic. However, it really smoothes out with a little air. It is savory and juicy as well. The flavor profile is a black currant and blackberry blend with notes of black licorice and mild oak. There is also some spice notes and black pepper throughout. It’s a pretty complex wine. The finish is dry, tingly, and its mild dusty oak tannins show up at the very end. The wine definitely improves with a little air. So decant it and serve it with a grilled ribeye. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Balance and expression of the unique Spring Valley terroir are the goals for this Right Bank-style wine. Complex layers of herbal notes, orange zest, and almond paste on the nose evolve into complex aromatic notes of summer berries, candy, and cigar. Ultra-rich, round flavors of ripe berries and bright summer fruit along with soft polished tannins lead to chocolate, caramel, and vanilla notes on the spectacularly long and complex finish. A very "Bordeaux-driven" wine and a perfect expression of Spring Valley. ~ Serge Laville, Winemaker
