Wine Review: This almost clear colored Sauvignon Blanc from South Africa made quite an impression on the Tasting Panel. It opens with an English pea and green pepper bouquet with hints of sea shell and tomato leaf. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied and zesty with plus acidity. The flavor profile is a lemon and lime blend with notes of green pepper, saline and some minerality. We also detected some hints of grapefruit and white pepper mixed in as well. The finish is dry and its flavors subtly fade away. The Panel suggested pairing this interesting Sauvignon Blanc with grilled sausage with sautéed red peppers and onions. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Made reductively in order to maximize the fruit personality of the vintage, while maintaining the typical Southern Right balance of Old World minerality and length with hints of New World palate coverage and body. The 2019 is a wine that favors origin expressive individuality, minerality, and palate complexity ahead of pure, pungent varietal aroma. A significant percentage of fruit from clay-rich soil has added an intense mid-palate structural component and additional overall complexity to this wine.
