Wine Review: This white gold colored Chardonnay from Sojourn is excellent. It opens with a lemon and herb bouquet with a hint of almond paste. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth and mouthcoating. The flavor profile is a white peach, lemon, and light butterscotch blend with notes of chalky minerality and oak. We also picked up a hint of kumquat. The finish is dry, and its flavors linger and last for quite a while. We would pair this impressive Chard with lobster bisque. Enjoy – Ken & Dave
Winemaker Notes: In 2021 we re-introduced our previous Green Acres block to this blend from Sangiacomo Vineyard. It was redeveloped a few years ago and is now back to producing exceptional Chardonnay from Old Wente Clone vines. Wine from Green Acres was blended with our Sangiacomo Roberts Road and Vella blocks to create a layered Chardonnay with robust fruit flavors and persistence. Each block was picked at night and immediately pressed whole cluster to retain freshness. The finished wine offers intense aromas and bright acidity with compelling flavors of stone fruit, citrus and apple.
