Wine Review: This slightly cloudy midnight purple colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Sojourn opens with an inviting black currant and chocolate cherry cordial bouquet with hints of mints, chalk dust, and violets. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and savory. The flavor profile is structured and layered. If features cassis, black cherry compote and muddled mint along with notes of black tea and stone dust. We also detected some hints of celery, mocha, and faint ginger snap. The finish is dry, and its moderate rounded tannins linger and last for a very long time. The Tasting Panel would pair this Cab with New York strip steak. We also think it is a nice firepit sipper. Winemaker Notes: Sojourn sources Cabernet Sauvignon Clone 337 grapes from the renowned F-Block within Vineyard Georges III in Rutherford. This Beckstoffer Heritage vineyard is the former Beaulieu Vineyard. No. 3, which was originally planted by Georges de Latour of Beaulieu in 1928. The property is located adjacent to the Caymus Winery between Conn Creek Road and Silverado Trail. This balanced Cabernet Sauvignon is silky smooth and showcases the classic Rutherford Dust.
