Wine Review: This medium garnet colored Merlot from Smith Devereux opens with a mild red cherry and black currant bouquet with hints of faint oak, leather, and violets. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, very smooth and seamless. The flavor profile is mild black cherry and graphite blend with notes of oak and black currant. We also detected hints of black plum, mocha, and black tea. The finish is dry, and its very dusty sticky tannins have nice length. The Tasting Panel would pair this Merlot with porterhouse steak. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Our single-vineyard Napa Valley Merlot is grown in our award-winning "Ibex Vineyard." Sustainably farmed and hand-harvested in Oak Knoll, our vines thrive among some of the most celebrated cabernet vineyards in Napa Valley. Harvested late for prime ripeness, this wine is aged in new French oak for a luscious, complex, full-bodied expression of Merlot. Tasting Notes: Blackberry, dark raspberry, chocolate, leather, tobacco, and soft black pepper.
