Wine Review: This dark tan colored dessert wine opens with a honey, mild apricot and gentle raisin bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, rich, nicely sweet and viscous. The flavor profile is a tasty ripe apricot with notes of fig, raisin, and hints of honey and ripe apple. The finish remains pleasantly sweet and lingers nicely for quite a while. This wine is a dessert on its own, but it would be great poured over vanilla ice cream or with Great Hill blue cheese. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Sigalas Vinsanto is a classic white wine vinification from sun dried Assytriko (75%) and Aidani. Aging takes place in old oak barrels for a minimum of 24 months. Vinsanto is the most genuine descendant of the "passon oino"”, as the sun dried wines were called in antiquity. During the Middle Ages the ancient volcanic Thira was renamed as Santo Erini – Santorini and thus the wine took the name Vino Santo – Vinsanto, thus declaring its place of origin.
