Wine Review: It is rare to find a very good Pinot Noir under $15. Well, this very light red colored Pinot from Australia is one of those rare finds. It opens with a fragrant musty oak and black raspberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and juicy. The flavor profile is a pleasant strawberry and red raspberry blend with notes of smoky oak. I also detected a hint of black pepper and black cherry. The finish is dry and its friendly mild tannins and oak influenced flavors drift away nicely. This good value Pinot would pair nicely with pork tenderloin with prosciutto and sage. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2014 Pinot is bright violet-red in color and shows the purity of fruit that is so easily lost with this fickle variety. The aromatics are dominated by lifted, bright cherry and raspberry notes and subtler nutty oak characters. The medium body palate reveals ripe, red fruits framed by mocha notes and balanced oak. The silky texture envelops the palate while the balanced flavors welcomingly linger on the finish.
