Wine Review: This pale straw-colored Chardonnay from Shaw & Smith opens with an oak influenced pear and green melon bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, rounded and pretty bright for a Chard. The flavor profile is a tasty oak influenced green apple with notes of saline, chalky minerality and chamomile tea. I also detected hints of nutmeg, pineapple, and ripe pear. The finish is dry and refreshing. I would pair this Chard with lobster with drawn butter. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: Aiming for elegance, restraint and the ability to age, acid is bright and there’s generosity of flavor. Typically, it shows white flowers, citrus, and nectarine notes. The 2021 vintage was one of the best on record. Ripe and healthy fruit resulted in a beautifully balanced M3, with great flavors, and fresh acidity right through to the long finish. Superb alongside grilled Pacific Sea Bass with a caper butter sauce.
