Wine Review: This bright red colored Merlot based wine opens with a blueberry bouquet with hints of cherry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, smooth and approachable. The flavor profile is a tasty black cherry and oak blend with notes of minerality and dark chocolate. I also detected some hints of black tea and pomegranate mixed in. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins show nice length. I would pair this very good offering from Shafer with a New York strip steak. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: This juicy red blend is loaded with vivid summer fruit – red plum, red cherry, black cherry, and strawberry – along with rhubarb, spice, and red licorice. All this tantalizing freshness comes with energy and ripe tannins for a long, luscious finish.
