Wine Review: This opaque and very dark ruby colored Cabernet from Shafer opens with a musty oak and black currant bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium to full bodied, balanced, and smooth. The flavor profile is a gentle black plum with notes of nicely integrated minerality. I also detected hints of black currant and loganberry. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are a bit sticky but well-managed. I would pair this Cab with braised short ribs. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The glass comes alive with aromas of crushed red and black summer berries, rose petal and herbs. In the mouth the generous, lush black and red fruits integrate enticingly with sage, tobacco leaf, smoke and black spice all wrapped within a structure of ripe Stags Leap District tannins. The finish is long and pleasurable.
