Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Cabernet from Shafer won our first big blind tasting in September. It opens with an inviting mild black currant bouquet with a hint of black cherry and menthol. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, nicely balanced, and polished. The flavor profile is a yummy blueberry with notes of menthol, black licorice, and a touch of oak. The finish is dry and its well managed tannins drift along nicely. The panel suggested that this wine would pair well with a ribeye steak or osso buco and a slice of devil's food cake. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: This is a Cabernet that is enjoyable now and will just get better with time in the cellar. Aromas of rich, polished black fruit, mocha, and spice, followed by fulsome, juicy flavors of blackberry and black cherry, chocolate, plum and cedar, with ripe, smooth tannins and a pleasingly long finish.
