Wine Review: This pitch black colored wine finished in second place in our big blind Syrah tasting. It opens with a fragrant mild black currant and black licorice bouquet with a hint of nutmeg. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, very well balanced, and super smooth. The flavor profile is a delicious mild blackberry and black currant blend with nicely integrated black licorice. There are hints of black pepper as well. The finish is very dry and its resolved tannins are very sticky and quite prolonged. The panel suggested serving this wine with duck or just enjoying it fireside with some sliced sharp cheddar cheese. A perfect wine to close your Valentine's Day evening. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The 2008 is like midnight in a glass. With abundant aromas and flavors of juicy purple fruit, smoked meat, spice, smoke, black plums and berry, it hugs the line between extract and elegance. In the mouth it's full and seamless from first taste through the long finish. - Winemaker Elias Fernandez
