Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Merlot from Seven Hills performed well in front of the Tasting Panel. It opens with a pomegranate and red plum bouquet with hints of toasted coconut and dark chocolate. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, savory and crowd pleasing. The flavor profile is a graphite influenced plum with notes of oak and blueberry. We also detected hints of cola and blackberry mixed in as well. The finish is dry and its flavors and chewy tannins present a nice extended finish. The Panel suggested pairing this good value Merlot with beef wellington or a thick juicy Kobe burger. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: This wine presents all the classic attributes we look for in Washington Merlot: lush and ripe fruit, a balanced and succulent palate, and a friendly accessibility. We also blend in a small amount of Cabernet Franc to accentuate the floral notes and bring an intriguing undertone of tobacco and brown leaf. The end result is a soft wine with flavors of strawberry, black plum and spice with a juicy, firm finish.
