Wine Review: This is what so many Sangiovese-based Tuscan reds wished they could be. This wine is from a tiny DOC called Pomino which is owed by only two estates, Marchesi di Frescobaldi and Villa Petrognano. Fattoria Selvapiana did an excellent job of capturing the mineral-rich, potent, and yet delicate wine. It was packed with flavors of licorice, sour cherries, orange zest, and clove. The finish is long with plenty of acidity classic Italian wines are known for and enough tannins to indicate this wine could use at least 5 more years. This very good value wine would shine with a charcuterie board or a nice rack of lamb. Drink now through 2025, but it could easily hold to 2030. - Nicolay
