Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Zinfandel from Seghesio opens with red plum and boysenberry bouquet with notes of red raspberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is soft, smooth, and well-balanced. The flavor profile is blackberry and oak blend with notes of blueberry and licorice. The finish is dry, and its fine medium tannins are nicely prolonged. This crowd-pleasing Zin is versatile and food friendly. I would pair it with a carnitas burrito. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: An expressive burst of aromas of deep dark fruits lead into layered tones of lifted red fruit and a soft, luscious mid-palate. A juicy, vibrant entry with notes of mint, sarsaparilla, and fresh plum is interwoven with supple, textured tannins and acidity on the long, complex finish. This wine is lovely paired with pasta dishes with tomato-based sauces such as baked rigatoni or pappardelle Bolognese. It is also a great pairing suggestions for happy hour or a last minute get together.
