Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Zinfandel opens with a fresh cut Christmas tree and bayberry bouquet with hints of Chinese five spice, black cherry and red currant. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, soft, exceptionally smooth and elegant for Zin. The flavor profile is a tasty blueberry with notes of gentle oak. We also detected hints of subtle minerality, black pepper, black cherry and dark chocolate. The finish is dry and its tannins and managed fine tannins stick around for a while. The Panel thought this crowd-pleasing Zin would be ideal to enjoy on its own. With food we would pair it with sausage stuffed mushroom or a filet mignon with béarnaise sauce. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Always one of our most elegant and polished expressions of Zinfandel, Cortina has a bold flavor profile while being balanced and lithe on the palate. Notes of boysenberry, mulberry, cedar and clove complement the wine's finely integrated tannins. This Zin is a perfect partner with a rack or leg of lamb. The berry and spice flavors of the wine would meld perfectly with the lamb’s slightly gamey flavor.
