Wine Review: This medium ruby colored Zinfandel from Seghesio opens with a mild boysenberry and black cherry bouquet with hints of moist pipe tobacco, cinnamon, and nutmeg. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, and round. The flavor profile is blackberry and fig blend with notes of gravely minerality and oak. We also detected hints of black currant and chai tea. The finish is dry and moderate tannins are nicely prolonged. The Panel would pair this Zin with burnt ends, beef stroganoff or a grilled rosemary lamb chop. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: An elegant entry of briary red raspberry and dark fruits with a pleasing hint of cinnamon spice. Old Vine Zinfandel is all about mouthfeel, and this wine has a luscious midpalate richness, integrated tannins, mouthwatering acidity and a long finish. Suggested food pairings for this Zin is a New York strip steak with mashed potatoes and roasted seasonal veggies.
