Wine Review: This pitch black colored Zinfandel from Seghesio opens with a fragrant and attractive black raspberry bouquet with a hint of boysenberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, acidic and very juicy. The flavor profile is an extracted blackberry with notes of black licorice and minerality. I also detected hints of blackberry jam and black pepper. The finish is dry and its acidity and fruit flavors are nicely extended. This jammy Zin would pair nicely with a tangy pulled pork sandwich. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: A blend comprised of Zinfandel from vineyards in Dry Creek and Alexander valleys. The best lots are selected to make Sonoma Zinfandel. A small amount of Petite Sirah is added to honor century old traditions and to provide color and structure. The result is a wine that offers tantalizing raspberry, blueberry, classic briary and spicy flavors with a balance of components for which Seghesio wines are known. Pair with pizza, barbecue, spicy cuisine and cured salami.
