Wine Review: This white gold colored Chardonnay from the Finger Lakes opens with a lemon custard and mild oak bouquet with hints of vanilla bean and a dash of cinnamon. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and slightly creamy. The flavor profile is an oak influenced poached Bartlett pear with notes of Nilla wafer cookies and papaya. I also detected some hints of pineapple and almond butter. The finish is dry, and its flavors linger and last for a very long time. If you like a richer style of Chard, this offering from the Finger Lakes will surprise and please you. I would pair it with a chicken carbonara. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: This year's crop was grown at Cayuga Ridge Vineyard located on Cayuga Lake. The vines at Cayuga Ridge are some of the oldest in the Finger Lakes at 50 years old. This wine was barrel fermented and aged for 12 months in new French oak. Wet stone and slate aromatic notes are reminiscent of being in this Finger Lakes vineyard during the growing season.
