Wine Review: This white gold colored sparkling wine from Schramsberg opens lots of fine bead streaming bubbles. We detected bread dough and fresh lemon on the nose with hints of white tea, green apple, and florals. On the palate, this wine is light bodied and had pleasant medium crispy acidity that is balanced and even feels creamy. The flavor profile is similar to the nose, leading with lemon, stony minerality and white tea. There are also notes of almonds, green apple, and brioche in the blend. The finish is dry and refreshing. The Panel would pair this sparkler with chicken francese, pheasant, or chicken piccata. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The 2018 Blanc de Blancs has bright aromas of fresh apples, lemon-lime, and warm wheat toast, intermingled with hints of baked pineapple and toasted almonds. Its vibrant flavors of Meyer lemon and Granny Smith apples bring a nice tartness to the mid-palate, leading to a clean, bright finish. While this wine can be enjoyed by itself as an apéritif, it is also perfect with fresh oysters and other shellfish, lemon chicken, Thai curries or with aged Gouda.
