Wine Review: This deep garnet colored Pinot Noir opens with red plum and wet stone bouquet with hints of dried strawberry and cinnamon, rhubarb, and allspice. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied and with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, balanced, and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a juicy and tart red plum and cola blend with notes of loam and cherry Jolly Rancher. We also detected hints of nutmeg and cinnamon. The finish is dry, and its acidity and flavors linger and last for quite some time. This wine really develops and opens up with some air and time. The Tasting Panel would decant this Pinot in the near term and then pair it with coq au vin or with a duck liver pate spread on toast. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: True to its pedigree, our 2019 Durell Vineyard Hayfield Block Pinot Noir displays both the depth of flavor and elegant structure this celebrated vineyard is known for. The wine's dark berry and plum core gains richness on the mid-palate, broadening to take on notes of brown spice and sweet vannilin oak, all framed by fine grained tannins that add grip and complexity throughout the lengthy finish.
