Wine Review: This pale yellow colored Chardonnay from Santa Barbara opens with lemon and creme brulee like bouquet. One the palate, this wine is medium to full bodied, crisp and lively on the palate. The flavor profile is a mild oak infused lemon with notes of tart green apple. The finish is dry and its flavors linger nicely. This Chard will appeal to Sauvignon Blanc and Chard drinkers, as it is a good cross section. I would pair this wine with grilled swordfish with drizzled lemon butter. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: All the grapes for this wine were pressed as whole clusters and 56% of the wine fermented in stainless steel without undergoing malolactic fermentation. These two steps lend brightness to the fruit intensity that then integrates with the mouth pleasing weight and supple flavors enhanced by barrel fermentation. Our Santa Barbara County Chardonnay is a good all around choice to satisfy a wide variety of foods. With enough structure to age for five to six years, we think this wine is most enjoyable three years after the vintage year.
