Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Sangiovese opens with a cherry compote and birch beer bouquet with hints of orange zest and teaberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth and silky with a touch of zestiness. The flavor profile is a tart black plum and cedar plank blend with notes stony minerality and fresh muddled mint. We also detected a hint of cinnamon and a touch of basil. The finish is dry, and its dusty fine tannins are nicely prolonged. Definitely pair this wine with food. We would also consume it in the near term. We suggest pairing it with Italian bricole or with Zurich-style veal with creamy mushroom sauce and smashed potatoes. Enjoy – Ken & Mark
Winemaker Notes: Intense ruby red. The nose releases scents of dried plum, blackberry, and raspberry. Velvety tannins and a judicious acidity on the palate. It is a wine of extraordinary longevity. Pair with wild game or aged pecorino cheese.
