Wine Review: I enjoyed this opaque and midnight purple colored Côtes du Rhône while at the 208 Wine Bar in Savannah. It opens with a black raspberry and black cherry bouquet with slight hints of black olive and faint pencil lead. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced and super smooth. The flavor profile is a gentle blackberry and black cherry blend with notes of oolong tea and graphite. I also detected hints of black plum, loam, and a dash of black pepper. The finish is dry, and its flavors and moderate tannins are nicely extended. This wine would pair very nicely will grilled Angus steak tips. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: Syrah requires a warm climate to fully ripen but enough moderating effect to produce intense, aromatic wines that are not overwhelmed by sweetness and alcohol. This Syrah grows in ideal terroirs of the southern Rhône and shows the varietal’s typical spicy notes of sandalwood, violets, and black pepper. Syrah, with its deep flavors and firm tannins, is a natural match for Seared venison or beef with black pepper and thyme.
