Wine Review: This red colored Pinot from New Zealand opens with a musty oak, tobacco and black cherry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic, and very fruit forward. The flavor profile is a tart plum with notes of integrated oak. I also picked up some red raspberry and black pepper. The finish is dry and its acidity sticks around for a bit. This is a fine everyday Pinot. I would pair it with a tangy North Carolina styled pulled pork sandwich. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Ripe dark fruits of black cherry and black current, followed by bright lifted aromas of raspberry. The nose is complex with spice and a hint of vanilla. Beautifully bright and lifted, with delicious ripe raspberry, strawberry and layers of darker fruits. The acidity is well balanced and leads to an inviting and structured mid palate which is weighty and mouth coating. The wonderful fine grained tannin draws the palate towards an elegant well integrated finish and great length. An ideal wine with succulent red meat dishes, mushroom and tomato pasta or fresh pan-fried fish.
