Wine Review: This midnight purple colored wine from Rowen makes a very good impression. It opens with a very fragrant boysenberry and black raspberry bouquet with a hint of Canada mints. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slight acidic, juicy and fruit forward. The flavor profile is mild black cherry and blueberry blend with notes of rich dark cocoa and coffee ice cream. I also detected some hints of red plum, cinnamon and cedar plank towards the end. The finish is dry and its flavors and moderate tannins linger nicely. This wine smooths out nicely with some aeration. So, I suggest decanting it for a bit and serving it with Capital Grille’s Kona encrusted dry-aged sirloin. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Lush and elegant wine consisting of wonderful high elevation, mountain fruit. Aromas of black raspberries, cocoa and black pepper with notes of blackberries, cassis, nutmeg and vanilla on the palate. Exotic floral element on the finish as well as a rounder mouthfeel. Enjoy this wine now with sharp cheeses and charcuterie, grilled filet mignon, or a cocoa dusted chocolate torte.
