Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Zinfandel from Rombauer opens with a sugar plum and sweet pipe tobacco bouquet with hints of raisin and dried coconut. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, juicy and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a sugar plum, stony minerality and hazelnut blend with notes of black licorice nibs and peach. We also detected hints of triple sec, blueberry, and coconut. The finish is dry, and its moderate tannins and a touch of heat linger and last for a while. The Tasting Panel would decant this Zin before pairing it with a beef bourguignon or with a blue cheeseburger. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The wine bursts with bright fruit aromas of cherry and red plum, with notes of vanilla, holiday spices, and lavender all jumping out on the nose. Plum flavors continue to the palate, joined by layers of raspberry jam, mocha, clove, and white pepper. The mid-palate is soft and creamy, framed by fine tannins and ending with a long, lush finish that will leave you wanting another sip. Pair our Zin with baby back ribs that are slow roasted and slathered in your favorite barbeque sauce.
