Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Rombauer is very good. It opens with a fragrant black currant and blackberry bouquet with a hint of black licorice. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and approachable. The flavor profile is very similar to the nose. It features ripe black currant and blackberry flavors with notes of acai, black plum and graphite. I also detected hints of toasted coconut towards the end. The finish is dry and its flavors and moderate sticky tannins are nicely prolonged. This Cab is ready to go now and would pair nicely with a New York strip steak. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This wine is vibrant dark purple with a fuchsia rim. The nose is expressive, with aromas of red fruit, cassis and toast. The wine is full-bodied, packed with flavors of boysenberry, raspberry and black cherry, along with notes of sweet tobacco, cedar and vanilla. Supple tannins carry through to a lingering finish. Pair with braised short ribs with mushrooms, red wine, and crispy fried shallots.
