Wine Review: This deep red colored Merlot begins with aromas of dark cherry compote, boysenberry, pine pitch, cedar, and violets in the glass. I found it to be soft, silky smooth, and lush on the palate. It is also medium bodied, moderately acidic, and balanced. The flavors include ripe boysenberry, toasted oak, and cassis, with notes of vanilla, creme, baking spice, and dried herbs. There are pleasant round tannins that linger for a while in the dry finish. Serve with a hearty shredded beef ragu and pappardelle pasta bowl. - Mark
