Wine Review: This dark garnet colored Pinot Noir from Rodney Strong opens with a black raspberry, strawberry and craisin bouquet with some hints of wet stone and clove. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is wonderfully balanced, smooth, lush, and velvety. The flavor profile is a very tasty stewed plum and mild black cherry blend with notes of gentle oak and black raspberry. I also detected hints of loam, oak and clove. The finish is dry and its refined tannins drift away nicely. I would pair this very food friendly Pinot with pan-seared duck breast with berry sauce and wild mushroom risotto. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Red and darker fruits play in the nose as ripe cherry, plum and creamy oak aromas lead to sweet and spicy flavors of rhubarb and damp forest floor. The puncheons used to ferment the wine show in the mouth, as supple acidity weaves together with velvety smooth tannins and satiating volume, as forest floor and black cherry flavors linger on a fresh and refined finish.
