Wine Review: This pale straw-colored Chardonnay from Rodney Strong opens with an oak and pear bouquet with hints of Nilla wafer and grapefruit. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and rich. The flavor profile is a Bartlett pear and oak blend with notes of honeydew melon and caramel green apple. We also detected some hints of lemon. The finish is dry, and its flavors are quite extended. Winemaker Notes: Crème brûlée, golden apple and pie crust aromas mix with layers of creamy oak. Flavors of poached pear and vanilla wafer overlie a rich, silky smooth texture with mineral-laced acidity, finishing with creamy oak and toasted hazelnut.
