Wine Review: The 2017 "Rockaway" Cabernet Sauvignon from Rodney Strong is impressive! It is very dark ruby colored and opens with a macerated cherry, cola, and dried craisin bouquet with a hint of black raspberry. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated acidity. The mouthfeel is round, smooth, and lush. The flavor profile is a concentrated blackberry and graphite blend with notes of stewed plum and black licorice jellybean. I also detected hints of black raspberry, cola, oak, and espresso in the mix. It's pretty complex. The finish is dry and its very big managed tannins, build-up and last for a very long time. This Cab will benefit from aeration in the near term. I would decant it for a bit and serve it with a well-marbled ribeye. Enjoy - Ken
