Wine Review: This pale straw-colored Chardonnay from Rodney Strong opens with a Bartlett pear bouquet with hints of pineapple, clove gum and ginger. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied and balanced. The flavor profile is a tasty mild mineral and gentle oak influenced pear with notes of almond. We also detected hints of pineapple and apricot pit towards the end as well. The finish is dry and delicately fades away. The Panel thought this Chard was very food friendly and would pair nicely with a seafood casserole or risotto with lemon and asparagus. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Barrel fermentation in new and seasoned French oak added toasty vanilla and spice complexities. During the twelve months of barrel aging, we regularly stirred the “lees” in barrel, which imparts an elegant fullness and creamy texture on the palate. In the glass, the wine is both creamy and crisp, with flavors of golden delicious apple, pear, Meyer lemon, baking spices with a hint of minerality on the long finish. Enjoy over the next one to three years with a gourmet cheese plate, creamy vegetable pasta or grilled halibut.
