Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Rockpile opens with a fresh brewed black coffee and blackberry bouquet with hints of licorice nips, graphite, and violets. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, lush, and rich. The flavor profile is a tasty blackberry pie and cedar blend with notes of cocoa and black raspberry. We also detected hints of black plum, graphite, and anise. The finish is dry, and its polished dusty tannins stick around for quite some time. The Tasting Panel would decant this wine before pairing it with a well-marbled steak or just enjoy it on its own by the fireplace this winter. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Our Rockpile Cabernet is beautifully detailed on the nose, with perfumed notes of black cherries, dried violets, loganberry, dusty iron red earth, shaved cocoa bean, woodsmoke, coastal dried underbrush and anise. Its vibrant and energetic entry leads to the expected full-bodied expression of a Rockpile Cabernet Sauvignon. This vintage is also defined by a delicious, sophisticated, and tailored tannin profile, concluding in a superb multi-layered finish with a candied fruit element that’s seductive and even more rewarding with aeration. Enjoy it over the next 15+ years.
