Wine Review: This medium ruby colored Zinfandel from Rockpile opens with a strawberry and red plum bouquet with hints of black cherry, minerality and leather. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, juicy and super smooth for a Zin. The flavor profile is a tasty mild boysenberry and crushed stone blend with notes of gentle oak, black cherry and vanilla. We also detected some hints of herbal tea and warm baking spices mixed in. The finish is dry and its moderate dusty tannins are extended and stick around for a while. The Panel would pair this Zin with a thick cut prime rib, a grilled Portobello burger or Asian barbecue ribs. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The 2018 Jack's Cabin Zinfandel is very classic in its aromatic offerings: Crushed black cherry, milk chocolate shavings, sweet baking spices and nuances of dried old-fashion rose petal. The juicy entry reveals fresh red currants and black raspberries, black tea leaf and dusty soil. Full-bodied with a plush texture, it finishes with great focus and clarity. Please enjoy over the next 5-7 years.
