Wine Review: This opaque dark ruby colored Zinfandel opens with a unique toasted coconut and raspberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is also very different. It is medium bodied, balanced, juicy and easy to drink. The flavor profile remains similar to the nose. It features toasted coconut, oak and black cherry with notes of stewed plum and pomegranate and hints of mocha dust. The finish is dry and its flavors linger for a while. This is such a different Zin, that I would drink it on its own after a 20 minute decant. The aeration allowed the flavors to meld together nicely. Enjoy – Ken.
Winemaker Notes: The 2016 is my favorite bottling from this vineyard, thus far. This stunning Napa Zinfandel exhibits aromas and flavors of freshly ground pink peppercorn, blackberry, blueberry, caramel, cigar box, forest floor, anise and minerality. This is by far the most masculine Zinfandel I make. I am here to coax the grapes into the wines they are meant to be, and the Hendry is always big, assertive and unapologetic.
