Wine Review: This light straw colored Sauvignon Blanc from Robert Young opens with a fragrant gooseberry bouquet with hints of yellow grapefruit. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, slightly acidic, zesty and rich. The flavor profile is nectarine and grapefruit blend with notes of minerality and hints of white pepper and a touch of lime. The finish is dry and it is refreshing. This Sauvignon Blanc would pair nicely with swordfish skewers on a hot summer day. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Robert Young has been growing Sauvignon Blanc since the early 90's, but selling the fruit exclusively to other local wineries. The winery decided to make its first official Sauvignon Blanc with the 2017 vintage. Our approach was to allow the fruit be the primary flavor component in the wine and therefore we put the wine in 100% neutral barrels so that there is little to no oak influence. The resulting wine is fresh, with lots of stonefruit, melon and grapefruit flavors with nice minerality in the background, yet rich in texture.
