Wine Review: This almost clear colored Spätlese level Riesling from Robert Weil was a top finisher in our recent blind tasting. This wine opens with a mild petrol and light floral bouquet with hints of dried apricot. On the palate, this wine is light bodied, clean, delicate, refined and pleasantly sweet. The flavor profile is a very tasty spice and ginger blend with notes of Granny Smith apple skin, pineapple and minerality. We also detected hints of Bosc pear and guava. The finish is pleasantly semi-sweet and drifts away nicely. The Panel suggested pairing this Riesling with baked brie in puff pastry with apricot preserves or with Emeril’s pork medallions with herbed spaetzle and brown butter sauce. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Always stunning, the Spätlese ("late picked") from Kiedrich Gräfenberg is a massive wine of bewildering depth and complexity, with many layers of gorgeous fruit that unfold on the palate. It is a stately wine with power, harmony and impeccable balance.
