Wine Review: We did a mini-vertical of the 2009 and 2010 Oakville Cabs. We found we like both for very different reasons. The 2009 was more food friendly and went best with our beef based meal. It is opaque and dark ruby colored. It opens with a red currant bouquet with a hint of pomegranate. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and a bit juicy. The flavor profile is a tasty red currant with notes of plum and hints of oak and raspberry. The finish is dry and its flavors and moderate tannins are nicely prolonged. We felt this Cab would pair best with slow cooked beef brisket. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Densely-packed aromas of ripe plum, blackberry, chocolate mint and Provencal herbs anticipate the deep, multi-layered flavors echoed within and augmented by lush black cherry, blueberry, anise, espresso and toasty oak. Firm, ample tannins and a persistent black-fruit finish assure the potential to develop even greater complexity in the years to come.
