Wine Review: This opaque and deep ruby colored Merlot from Robert Foley opens with a black cherry and oak bouquet with hints of cassis and blueberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, and classy. The flavor profile is a tasty blueberry and cherry blend with notes of gentle marionberry and mild black tea. We also detected some hints of cinnamon, crushed stone, and cedar mixed in. The finish is dry and its refined tannins drift away nicely. The Tasting Panel would pair this impressive Merlot with a filet mignon or a pot roast. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Only three barrels were bottled of this mountain Merlot, grown in a small single vineyard block adjacent to our winery production facility at the 2000’ elevation atop Howell Mountain. The volcanic terroir and high elevation exposure really concentrate the fruit, producing extremely dark color, almost Cabernet-like intensity. Thoroughly ripe red and black currant flavors are framed by gently gripping tannins. The finish is long, expressive, and velvety.
