Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Petite Sirah from Robert Foley is excellent. It opens with a blueberry and black tea bouquet with hints of dark chocolate, capers, and almond. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is very well-balanced, rich, and super smooth. The flavor profile is mulberry and black licorice blend with notes blueberry. We also detected some hints of black tea, oak, and prune. The finish is dry and its big, bold, and dusty tannins build-up and last for a very long time. The Tasting Panel would pair this Petite Sirah with a cigar. With food, we would pair it with a Kona crusted bone-in ribeye or braised short ribs. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: This is the Big Rock Candy Mountain of wine! Super-ripe blackberry pie with a hint of briar, this 100% Petite Sirah is massively extracted, yet maintains a sense of balance and elegance. A lush round mouthfeel avoids the monolithic astringency of this variety, while gentle tannins provide a lingering finish. This will be fun to enjoy from now until 2062.
