Wine Review: This deep purple colored Syrah from the Napa Valley opens with a boysenberry, crème de cassis and black raspberry bouquet with hints of cola and tar. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, smooth and round. The flavor profile tasty black raspberry and black cherry with notes of oolong tea and black plum. We also detect hints of dried oregano, tarragon, blueberry and dark chocolate. The finish is rather dry and its composed moderate dusty tannins linger for a very long time. The Panel would serve this Syrah with duck cassoulet by the fireplace. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: This is 100% Syrah from one single block. Fewer than 200 cases are produced each year from a favorite Calistoga vineyard block at the extreme north end of the Valley. The 2017 has delicious red berry fruit character with just a trace of vanilla on the midpalate. Soft fruit, silky tannin and a mouthwatering finish make this one hard to put down.
