Wine Review: This slightly opaque and dark ruby colored Charbono from Robert Foley opens with very inviting blackberry and fig bouquet with notes of anise, oak and black raspberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, smooth and savory. The flavor profile is a tasty graphite influenced black plum with notes of oak and blackberry. We also detected some hints of cardamom, chocolate and black licorice towards the end. The finish is dry and its moderate integrated dusty tannins stick around for a while, but do not get in the way. We would pair this very good Charbono with duck confit or a ribeye steak. Enjoy – Ken & Joe
Winemaker Notes: Aromas of red fruit medley – cherry, currant and raspberry – are ripe and vibrant. The juicy middle is ample and flavorful, lively and framed in natural acidity resolving in a long gentle finish with the finest of tannin. Beautifully balanced. This is a very versatile food wine. Charbono shows a rare combination of thorough ripeness and bright tangy acidity.
