Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Mt. Veeder opens with a eucalyptus, cassis, and black cherry bouquet with a hint of cedar and violets. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and juicy. The flavor profile is unique. It features a mild black currant and menthol blend with notes of cedar, thyme, bay leaves and graphite. We also detected hints of black plum and a touch of pomegranate. The finish is dry, and its dusty tannins and fruit flavors are nicely prolonged. The Tasting Panel would pair this Mt. Veeder Cab with Italian braciola or an osso buco in the very near term. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Certainly, our most feminine Cabernet Sauvignon offering, this very small vineyard nestles high on the mountain among a lush bay-laurel forest. Candy cherry and menthol notes are evident while the wine balances more like a European cousin, dancing lightly on the palate with healthy acidity. The tannins are super soft, and flavors linger long in the super-smooth finish. In 2013, we decided to capture this vineyards unique essence by bottling it separately to enjoy its intoxicating aroma. It was very popular, so we’ve offered it again with the 2015 vintage.
