Wine Review: This opaque and medium ruby colored Merlot from Robert Foley is very good. It opens with a ripe black raspberry and red currant bouquet with hints of blackberry and cinnamon. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity, balanced and juicy. The flavor profile is a black cherry and blueberry blend with notes of minerality and oak. We also detected hints of praline, amaretto, black plum, cinnamon and raisin mixed in. It is was pretty complex. The finish is dry and its tingly tannins linger and are nicely extended. The Panel would pair this impressive Merlot with roast duck, a veal chop, or a bacon wrapped filet. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Very ripe aromas of black currant and a trace of cedar introduce the first taste of this 100% varietal Merlot, which floods the middle with expansive ripe black fruit flavors from our Valley Floor vineyards as the gently gripping tannin of our Howell Mountain fruit coats the palate and lingers in a long finish. This "Merlot for Cabernet lovers" gracefully balances the best characteristics of these two remarkable Napa Valley AVAs.
