Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Robert Foley is very good. It opens with a fragrant and attractive boysenberry, cassis and black cherry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, fruit forward and very concentrated. The flavor profile is a ripe blackberry with notes of cassis, dark chocolate and refined minerality. There is a hint of oak and black pepper in the background. The finish is dry and its refined tannins and fruit flavors are nicely prolonged. This wine improves even more with aeration. I would pair it with a New York strip steak with a shallot and red wine demi-glaze sauce. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Our 2012 “Purple Label” Napa Valley Cabernet is 100% varietal in composition, yet it is a blend of ridge-top Atlas Peak fruit and the stony Calistoga vineyard where the high rocks there create thermals, drawing warming air through the vine rows, working the magic of ripening. This vintage really delivers with an aromatic black cherry pie in the face! Red and black berry fruit coat the palate with gobs of lush deliciousness. Tannin is abundant but very soft and fine. The perceptual viscosity of this delightful Cabernet will coat your mouth for seemingly half an hour. One for savoring!
