Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Napa Merlot from Robert Foley was very well received by the panel. It opens with a very fragrant red raspberry bouquet with hints of red cherry and cocoa. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, lush and very fruit forward. The flavor profile is an extracted blueberry with notes of minerality and hints of vanilla and cinnamon. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins and fruit flavors are nicely prolonged. The panel suggested that Zin fans would love this wine. They suggested pairing this Merlot with slow cooked beef brisket or Belgium chocolate. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: This is a Merlot for Cabernet lovers. Black currant, cassis and ripe cherry aromas follow through in a sweet lush mid-palate. Candied fruit flavors and velvety tannins are balanced with bright natural acidity, providing a long finish with suggestions of chocolaty mocha. Masculine structure and spice from Howell Mountain marry perfectly with the round femininity of Calistoga to create a perfect textural balance.
